Our crew removes the old lawn or weeds, grades the area so water moves away from the house, and builds a compacted base before any turf is rolled out. Seams are glued and hidden, edges are secured along borders and paths, and infill is brushed in so the turf stands up and wears evenly. The result is a green, low-water lawn area that stays flat and drains after winter rains.

Most of our turf work is part of a bigger yard. We plan the turf area together with pavers, patios, planting beds, drip irrigation and lighting, so borders line up, water goes where it should and the whole yard is built by one crew. We also install large stand-alone turf areas: play lawns, dog runs, side yards and slopes above retaining walls.

How We Install

What Goes Into a Turf Install

Compacted Base

We dig out the old lawn and soil, set the grade, and compact a crushed rock base in layers so the turf stays flat and doesn’t settle or ripple.

Drainage

Turf backing lets water through, so the base has to carry it away. We slope the area away from the house and tie low spots into drains where needed.

Clean Edges

Edges are secured along paths, beds and walls, and seams are glued and hidden. Infill is brushed in so the turf stands up and looks even.

Our Process

Initial Meeting

We walk the yard with you, measure the turf area, look at slope, drainage and access, and talk through how you want to use the space.

Preliminary Design

We lay out the turf area with any pavers, beds, drip and lighting, choose a turf product for your use (play, pets or looks), and give you a written scope and schedule.

Construction & Completion

Our crew removes the old lawn, grades and compacts the base, installs and seams the turf, secures the edges and brushes in infill, then walks the finished yard with you.

Artificial Turf FAQs

Do you install turf on its own or only as part of a full yard?

Both. Many of our turf installs are part of a full backyard or front yard project with pavers, plants, drip irrigation and lighting. We also install larger stand-alone turf areas such as play lawns, dog runs and side yards.

What goes under artificial turf?

The old lawn and several inches of soil come out, then we grade the area and compact a crushed rock base in layers. A weed barrier goes down where it makes sense, then the turf is laid, seamed, secured at the edges and filled with infill.

Does artificial turf drain?

Yes. Turf backing is perforated so water passes through. The base is graded so water moves away from the house, and we add drains in low spots when the yard needs them.

Is artificial turf good for dogs and kids?

Turf works well for play areas and dog runs. We can recommend pet-friendly turf and infill, and a base that rinses clean. Tell us how the area will be used and we will match the product to it.

Can artificial turf qualify for a lawn replacement rebate?
