“I worked with Chris on a relatively large landscaping project in early 2023. He was helpful in refining the design, timely and responsive, flexible in materials, and something you don’t see very often – on budget. The work was high quality. The suggestions were all great improvements. And the price was more than fair. I’d gladly reach out to Chris for landscaping and consider Harrod Construction for any home improvement project.”

Frequently Asked Questions
Patio Covers Installation FAQs
How Much Does Patio Covers Installation Cost In San Luis Obispo?
Your design choices may affect the cost of installing a patio cover. Basic designs made of lattice or aluminum are priced modestly, while structures with solid roofs, integrated gutters, lighting, weather resistant features, or fans, and premium materials require a larger investment. You should factor in the cost of permits and site preparation, too. Your final cost will depend on the style, size, and complexity of the patio cover you’re planning.
What Are The Benefits of Custom Built Patio Covers?
Custom patio covers provide shade, style, and a convenient year round reprieve from the California heat. Designed to match your home’s architecture and outdoor layout, they extend your living space and offer you and your furniture pieces protection from the harsh rays of the sun and potentially damaging rainstorms. Your space becomes more usable and inviting when you add a durable and practical patio cover that reflects your style and increases the value of your home.
How Long Does It Take To Build Patio Covers In San Luis Obispo?
The timeline to build patio covers varies. Most are finished within 2 to 8 weeks, unless there are long HOA approvals, delays in permits, or when weather conditions or lack of available materials affect the schedule. Simple patio cover structures can be installed quickly, but more complex patio covers with fans, special lighting, or integrated roofs might take longer, especially if they need to be inspected.
Do I Need a Permit For Patio Covers Installation In San Luis Obispo?
You’ll usually need a permit to construct and install a patio cover if you’re planning to attach it to your home. It may have to meet zoning laws and safety regulations. Getting the proper local permits will avoid delays, fines, and inspection issues later on.
Are There HOA Restrictions For Patio Covers In San Luis Obispo?
If your Paso Robles neighborhood has a homeowner’s association (HOA), it’s possible they will insist on matching patio covers to ensure the community has a consistent look. They probably have specific guidelines about patio cover design, placement, proximity to property lines, and materials you’re allowed to use. You may be required to submit plans of your proposed cover before patio installation, so you don’t incur fines.
