Our Process
Initial Meeting
At our initial meeting, we will walk through your yard together and ask questions, take photos and then sit down together for about 30 minutes. We then ask you to talk to us about any or all of your ideas, drawings or photos that have inspired you to take action.
Preliminary Design
This is one of our favorite steps of our collaborative process when we show you our preliminary design. If there are any revisions, they will be done at this time. Next, we will set up the time frame to begin your project. The drawings will be used throughout the entire design and installation, until completion of your landscape vision.

With your approved design in hand and our highly skilled team, your project is begun. Our goal during this final step is to complete your project on time and on budget. We are professional landscapers and we stand behind our work. Your satisfaction is our priority, and we are here for you every step of the way.

He was helpful in refining the design, timely and responsive, flexible in materials, and something you don’t see very often – on budget. The work was high quality. The suggestions were all great improvements. And the price was more than fair. I’d gladly reach out to Chris for landscaping and consider Harrod Construction for any home improvement project.”

Frequently Asked Questions
Paver Installation FAQs
How much does paver installation cost in San Luis Obispo?
Paver installation cost depends on the size of the area, the paver you choose and site conditions, and we give a free written estimate after a site visit. Estimates include materials, labor and site preparation; drainage systems or decorative borders add to the total. Pavers are durable, but they do cost a little more upfront. Their long-term value and visual appeal is worth the initial investment.
Is a paver patio installation better than pouring concrete?
Paver patio installation is considered better than poured concrete for homeowners who like design choices and appreciate long-term durability. Pavers come in a wide range of shapes, colors, and textures, allowing you to select a creative layout. Concrete can crack over time and requires the whole slab to be replaced when it’s damaged, but it’s faster to install. Pavers can be fairly easily swapped out when needed, which is less costly. Pavers are resilient and also provide better drainage, which prevents erosion. Overall, pavers are a preferred choice for longevity, style, and adaptability.
What is the average lifespan of a paver patio?
When correctly installed and maintained, the average lifespan of a paver patio is between 25 to 40 years. Brick pavers can last even longer, especially if they’re installed on a solid foundation to keep them from shifting. Their classic look is perfect for California homeowners who want their patio to be durable and affordable.
How should I maintain my paver walkway after installation?
After you install a paver walkway, keep it in good condition by sweeping it regularly and clearing away leaves and dirt. Clean any stains with soap and water, and rinse them off occasionally. Every few years, apply a sealant to prevent fading and to reinforce the sand between them. Check your walkway after storms to detect shifting so problems don’t develop. Maintaining your pavers properly ensures they’ll be functional and appealing for many years.
Can I customize the design of my paver patio or walkway?
Customizing your paver walkway or patio allows you to blend artistry and functionality for a space that becomes an outdoor focal point. You can use flowing curves, a geometric grid, or a herringbone pattern to shape the movement of your space and give it texture. You can layer different tones of pavers or define your patio’s edges with contrast. You have options with sleek finishes or weathered stone to pick from. Your walkway installation provides an opportunity to express your unique style and match your home.
